We work very closely with automotive and other original equipment manufacturers (OEM’s) to ensure that we are providing plating processes that exceed their requirements in the areas of corrosion protection, surface lubricity, abrasion resistance, color and brightness. Our plating processes and chemistries are used to help finish components in a wide variety of industries such as: automotive, agricultural, electrical, furniture, fasteners and hardware, faucets/fixtures, and more.
Some OEM’s have a qualification process to allow for our plating chemistries to be formally approved for their specifications while other OEM’s and component manufacturers do not formally list supplier chemistries as approved. Specifications that don’t list approved chemistries simply require verification testing to show that the final plated deposit meets the performance requirements within the specification. As a result, Columbia Chemical processes are used in meeting the requirements of numerous additional specifications, so please contact us if you have questions on the specification you need to meet.

Full approval was granted for the current global harmonized standard PS.50065 which covers trivalent chromium to specific colors. The color approval received is for STP (Bright Chrome Finish).
TriCOL® is approved for any parts where the PS.50045 is on the drawing (past released current parts and future carry over parts) plus for any decorative plated finish not yet covered in a new harmonized document. The TriCOL process is approved for any PS.50045 for the Master Number PP012 (Exterior Trivalent Chromium Plating) with the North American STP color code.
